All of life is simply a process
I am in the process of clutter clearing my body, mind, spirit and physical surroundings. It’s a weird and wonderful process going through my “belongings:”
-Unwanted pounds hanging on
-Old thoughts and thought patterns filed away
-Habits that no longer serve my greatest good
-Bags of forgotten knitting projects
This process of sorting and rediscovering is a time of contemplation, then action.
Create a mental picture of how you want your body to look. Then think “what can I add to my diet that gets me to my goal.” The best way to start is to add more fruit and vegetables. Do not concern yourself with calorie count; concern yourself with putting whole and natural food in your body. (Then allow the pounds to fall off)
Sometimes our minds are so full of stuff that it may feel as though you can’t get anything in or out. Now is the time to let go of old patterns of thought and new ones.
Sometimes we do things just because that is the way we have always done them. Or that is how we were taught. Now is the time to think about these things. Ask: are they habits serving my highest good. It might just take some switching up to create a different outcome, the one you desire.
Start somewhere, the key being start. Sort, put items where they belong, or repurpose. Keep the things of importance and jettison the rest.
So Flip the Switch right now, today change one thing in each of the above categories. And continue until you establish the body, mind, spirit and surroundings that you want to create.
Breaking up with a Yarn
Breaking up with a yarn
An excerpt from When Bad Things Happen to Good Knitters
If you don’t like working with a particular yarn, return it or give it to someone who will love it as much as you do not. There are too many kinds of yarn to choose from to knit with yarn that you don’t like. By giving it away, you will give new life to the yarn and make its new owner very happy!
The Way of Knit
Knitting has been likened to yoga because it focuses your mind on a physical task, rather than on any worries or mind chatter. Knitting has a prayerful or meditative quality. The simplest meditation exercise usually requires that you to sit comfortably and count your breathing. Knitting involves counting when you are working a pattern, and hopefully you are sitting comfortably. In meditation the idea is not to shut out all thoughts, but to allow them to pass through the mind rather that lingering. Knitting enables you to let go of unwanted thoughts because it regularly calls your attention back to the soothing occupation of knit and purl – and the completion of row after row. Tests have shown that knitting moves the mind into the same alpha-wave pattern as meditation. For some, knitting does this more quickly and readily.
The defination of change is 'make or become different.'
If you want to make a change in your life, do something for 8 minutes each day that will get you closer to your goal.
Before you know it you will have made the shift.
Studies in the US have shown that doing something repetitive, such as knitting, while under distress, helps you recover from the event or experience much more quickly and easily.
Your knitted piece is special because you have knit healing thoughts and prayers into it.
Destiny an ultra-soft, open-weave knit cardigan
Destiny may be defined as the predetermined, usually inevitable course of events. Our destiny belongs to us and only to ourselves. No one else owns it. Finding our destiny is our responsibility, no one can give it to us - it is ours. We have a choice to go after it or not.
Fate is something that happens to us. Fate reminds us to listen to our own intuition and that will lead us to the successes we are searching for in our hearts. Destiny is the path that we want to realize. If we allow it, our inner being will nudge us in the true direction. Destiny is our choice and that will lead our lives in the direction that we have chosen to live.
By knitting Destiny, you will follow a predetermined pattern. Destiny is knit on one piece to the underarms, therefore no seaming the sides. The upper body is worked in three sections, using three skeins of yarn. Sleeves are worked separately and sewn on to the cardigan. Knitting Destiny will be completed after stitches are picked up for the neck and bound off.
The only thing left to do will be to gently block your Destiny. This cardigan will become deliciously soft and drape with figure friendly waist shaping and longer length. This will be the only sweater you reach for.
Practicing the Buddhist art of non-attachment
The one thing I love about knitting is its lessons translate so easily into real life. And sometimes, when real life becomes too much, you can always just go knit.
So what happens when your knitting goes horrifically and tragically wrong? You may get a taste of true enlightenment.
Sometimes you get to practice the Buddhist art of non-attachment - letting go -this comes when an entire project is ruined. This skill serves us well in life. As the things we love change and go away; the knowledge that we loved the thing while it was ours and we are powerful enough to let it go, is one of the beautiful rewards that messing up terribly brings into our lives, if we are willing to experience it.
When you catch a mistake early, it is usually very easy to fix. But if for some reason your life got in the way of your knitting and the project had to sit in the corner for a long time, those mistakes are much harder to deal with.
So go to your knitting and check and see if you are in possession of knitting project that:
- you need help with - to move on
- has been left alone for so long that you don’t know where to begin
Bring this knitting project to class on Wednesday and I will do my utmost to help you rescue it, or we can decide together if letting go would be best.
Please check the July schedule, new class session begins July 11.
We are experiencing a Spiritual Uplift on our planet earth. The number 11 is a master number that represents artistic development, intuition and revelation. The number 11:11 when we catch a glimpse, is a prompt that there are Guardian Angels here on Earth to guide us on our spiritual journey. There are now literally billions of Angels here, all of whom have been especially trained to assist us with anything in our lives. When you see 11:11 it is a positive cue to bring your mind and body into balance.
The 11:11 scarf is a mind-focusing knitting project that presents you with an opportunity to reflect on your spiritual purpose in life. Your thoughts are materializing rapidly, so you want to ensure positive outcomes by focusing only on the good within yourself, and others in any situation.
New pattern for a man! the Rough Rib Scarf
The Rough Rib Scarf design is rugged, burly and the perfect stitch pattern for a man. The broken rib construction is a simple 2×2 ribbing. Cast on an uneven number of stitches, any multiple of 4 stitches plus 3, so that the knit and purl stitches don't line up. Broken rib is all about texture; the broken columns of knits and purls allow the scarf to lay flat and hang smooth. Plus it’s reversible.
